Pointe du Hoc

Pointe du Hoc is a beautiful promontory on the coast of Normandy, not far from Omaha Beach. The soil, highly uneven, is the result of human action. Believed (erroneously) a strategic view of the landing, was submitted on the eve of D-Day to intense bombardment by the Allies, which then landed on the coast with a few hundred men to conquer the German bunkers. Now the place is a shrine.
